Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Keperawatan (JIKK) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. The journal follows the ethical guidelines and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and adheres to international standards of scholarly publishing.
This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original works. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. All submissions will be screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with significant plagiarism will be rejected.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting previously published work is unethical and unacceptable.
Data Integrity and Reporting Standards
Authors must present accurate data and objective discussion of results. Fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation constitutes unethical behavior.
Authorship Criteria
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
Ethical Clearance
Research involving human participants must include a statement of ethical approval from an appropriate ethics committee and confirmation of informed consent. Studies involving animals must comply with institutional and national guidelines.
2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
Publication Decisions
Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts should be published based on academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
Confidentiality
Editors must ensure that information regarding submitted manuscripts is kept confidential.
Conflict of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for their own research and must avoid handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear arguments supporting the reviewer’s assessment.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
4. Peer Review Process
JIKK applies a double-blind peer review process. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. The editorial decision may be:
-
Accept
-
Minor Revision
-
Major Revision
-
Reject
The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
5. Handling of Ethical Misconduct
In cases of suspected misconduct (plagiarism, data fabrication, citation manipulation, authorship disputes, etc.), the journal will follow COPE guidelines in investigating and resolving the issue. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate actions will be taken, including rejection, retraction, or notification to the author’s institution.
6. Retraction Policy
Articles may be retracted if there is clear evidence of unreliable findings, plagiarism, unethical research, or major errors. Retraction statements will be clearly identified and linked to the retracted article.
7. Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright of their work. Articles are published under an open-access license (please specify the selected Creative Commons license, e.g., CC BY 4.0).
