Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Scope Compliance: The manuscript fits within the Focus and Scope of JIKK and contributes to nursing and health sciences.
  • Originality Statement: The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • Language Quality: The manuscript is written in clear and academic English. Authors are encouraged to use professional language editing services if necessary.
  • Manuscript Format: The manuscript follows the Author Guidelines, including structure, formatting, and word limits.
  • Blinded Manuscript: The main manuscript file does not contain any author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, or identifying information to ensure double-blind review.
  • The submission file is in the format *.docx, use Times New Roman size 12 with single space.
  • Title Page Uploaded Separately
    A separate Title Page file has been uploaded containing:
    - Full author names
    - Institutional affiliations
    - Corresponding author details
    - ORCID (recommended)
    - Funding statement (if applicable)
    - Conflict of Interest statement
  • References Format: All references are formatted according to the Vancouver NLM style and numbered consecutively in the order of citation.

Author Guidelines

Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Keperawatan (JIKK)

1. Manuscript Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted through the JIKK OJS system. Manuscripts sent by email will not be considered.

Before submission, authors must ensure that their manuscript complies with the journal’s Focus and Scope and all sections of these guidelines.

2. General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be written in academic English and submitted only in Word (.doc or .docx) format, use Times New Roman size 12 with single space.
  • All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Authors are responsible for the content of the manuscript and must adhere to ethical and scientific standards.

3. Types of Articles Accepted

JIKK accepts the following manuscript types:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
  • Narrative Reviews
  • Short Communications
  • Case Reports (only with clear clinical relevance)

Length and structure requirements vary by article type and are described below.

4. Manuscript Structure

A. Title Page

Include:

  • Title of the manuscript
  • Full names of authors (first name + last name)
  • Affiliations (Institution – City – Country)
  • Corresponding author with email address
  • ORCID ID for each author (highly recommended)

B. Abstract

  • Single paragraph; no more than 250 words
  • Should be structured into:
    Background
    Objective
    Methods
    Results
    Conclusion
  • Provide 3–6 keywords below abstract.

C. Main Text Formatting

Use the following heading structure:

Original Research / Systematic Review

  1. Introduction

    • Rationale and objectives of the study

  2. Methods

    • Study design

    • Participants or data sources

    • Procedures

    • Data analysis

    • Ethical considerations

  3. Results

    • Main findings with tables/figures

  4. Discussion

    • Interpretation

    • Comparison with existing literature

    • Strengths and limitations

  5. Conclusions

    • Implications for practice, policy, and/or research

Short Communications

  • Introduction
  • Main findings
  • Conclusion

Case Reports

  • Introduction

5. Tables & Figures

  • All tables and figures must be cited in the main text.
  • Provide clear captions and legends.
  • Upload figures in high resolution (300 dpi preferred).

6. References

JIKK uses the Vancouver NLM referencing style.

References must be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first cited in the text.

In-text Citation

Citations should appear as Arabic numerals in square brackets.

Examples:

  • Single citation:

    Stroke remains a leading cause of disability worldwide (1).

  • Multiple citations:

    Several studies have reported similar findings (2,3).

  • Citation range:

    Previous research supports this intervention (4–6).

If the author’s name is mentioned in the sentence:

According to Smith [7], early detection improves patient outcomes.

Reference List Format

References should be listed numerically at the end of the manuscript in the order of appearance in the text.

Authors are responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Additional Instructions

  • Use standard Index Medicus journal abbreviations where applicable.
  • Include DOI whenever available.
  • Ensure references are recent and relevant (preferably last 10 years for research articles).
  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero to ensure consistency and accuracy.

7. Ethical and Reporting Guidelines

Authors must comply with research ethics standards:

  • Studies involving humans must include ethical approval and informed consent statements.
  • Studies involving animals must state compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • For clinical trials, registration number must be provided.

All submissions will undergo plagiarism screening. Submissions with significant overlap will be rejected.

8. Peer Review

JIKK operates a double-blind peer review process.

Manuscripts are screened by the Editorial Office for suitability.
At least two independent reviewers will evaluate each manuscript.
The possible outcomes:

  • Accept
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision
  • Reject

9. Manuscript Preparation Checklist

Before submission, authors should ensure:

✔ Manuscript is within the journal’s scope and guidelines
✔ Title page contains complete author details and affiliations
✔ Abstract is structured and within word limit
✔ All references are formatted in APA 7
✔ Ethical statements included where applicable
✔ Tables and figures are properly labeled
✔ Manuscript is original and free of plagiarism

10. Submission Steps (OJS)

  1. Register on the new OJS 3 platform
  2. Log in and choose Submit Manuscript
  3. Upload manuscript and required documents
  4. Complete metadata (title, abstract, keywords)
  5. Submit and await editorial review
